From 2003-2005, Francesca Martonffy was a Kennedy Fellow at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, where she concentrated on international security and political economy and from where she obtained a Masters of Public Policy. While at Harvard, she also studied at the Graduate School of Education, where she focused on international development and comparative education. During Ms. Martonffy's time at Harvard, she was one of the principal researchers and authors of a study conducted in collaboration with The Apogee Foundation, resulting in publication of a report entitled "Helping Talent Thrive: Mitigating Corruption in Performing Arts Institutions in the Former USSR." Prior to Ms. Martonffy's work at Harvard, she obtained a BA with honors from the University of Chicago, where she also concentrated in political science and international relations.

Preceding her work at the World Economic Forum, Ms. Martonffy was National Program Director and Acting CFO of the World Affairs Councils of America. The WACA is the largest nonprofit international affairs organization in the US, with 433,000 members and participants, 85 councils nationwide, and outreach to 20 million Americans annually. During her time with WACA, Ms. Martonffy served as chief liaison to 2,200+ world affairs council staff and boards of directors, coordinated and supported educational outreach efforts to the system's 2.3 million students and 53,000 secondary school teachers, and oversaw and supported 3,000 events annually, including recruiting 50-70 international affairs experts per year to speak to local councils and outreach to local and national media. She also managed all grants including reporting and coordinating with grantors, planned and executed the World Affairs Councils' annual national conference, and managed a one-million dollar annual budget. Ms. Martonffy also has served as a Board Member and Chairman of the arts-and-enterprise organization Art Enables.

She has provided public policy and other management advice and assistance to Apogee since the year 2004.
