Nina Volkova was selected as one of the two top female students at her class level of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy for the 2001/2002 academic year, four years prior to when this photograph was taken, and awarded an Apogee Merit Scholarship on this basis.
She is shown here in rehearsal with Artyom Ovcharenko, who was selected as an Apogee Merit Scholar for both the 2005/2006 academic year (when this photograph was taken) and the 2006/2007 academic year which followed.
