Huang Nansong was the first Apogee Merit Scholar selected in China. He is a student at the Central Conservatory Music School in Beijing, where he studies with Apogee Achievement Award laureate Professor Zhang Jin, who is director of the Piano Department at the Central Conservatory.

Huang's awards include the first prize in two consecutive Xing Hai Cup Youth Piano Competitions in China, first prize at the Cadenza National Competition in China, first prize at the International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in St Petersburg, Russia, the Grand Prize of the Steinway International China Regional Competition, and first prize in the Selier International Piano Competition in Greece. he also has appeared in international music festivals in Germany and Japan, and has performed with the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra (Russia), the Ukraine National Symphony Orchestra and the Krainev Philharmonic Orchestra (Ukraine), the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and the China Youth Symphony Orchestra.
