Maria Vinogradova
Apogee Merit Scholar and Rising Star Award Laureate
Moscow, Russia

Maria Vinogradova was selected as one of the two top female students at her class level of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy for the 2001/2002 academic year and granted the corresponding Apogee Merit Scholarship.
On the recommendation of her instructors and the agreement of the choreographers, she also was selected to participate in Apogee's first and second series of public performances in Moscow, taking place during the 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 academic years, during which she had the opportunity to perform lead roles in choreography specially commissioned and produced by the Foundation.
Three years later, she was awarded second prize in the junior division of the Moscow International Ballet Competition (first prize as well as two third prizes having been taken by other Apogee Merit Scholars, two of which were two years older than Marina), and also in 2005 was selected to perform the lead role in the Bolshoi Academy's full scale production of The Nutcracker in the Bolshoi Theatre.
At the conclusion of her training at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Vinogradova was selected by jury as the top female graduate of the Academy in the class of 2006, and was awarded a special edition of the Foundation's Rising Star Award on this basis. This again confirmed Apogee's consistent record of success in identifying world class artists from the earliest years of their training and record of fostering this throughout these artists's career cycles.
